01-Feb-10 - Bad Urach, Germany

Bad Urach is home to Chemac Inc's world famous factory URACA located in the south western part of Germany called Baden-Wuerttemburg. The picturesque small town, of approximately 13,000 inhabitants, is nestled in a valley at the foot of the Swabian Alb. Bad Urach is a short 30 minute drive, without traffic, from Stuttgart.

The town of Bad Urach was originally called "Urach" and was, according to the oldest available records, most likely first settled in the early Stone Age. It has a long rich history in the region. In 1985, the name was changed to BAD URACH, BAD meaning "bath" or "spa" to reflect the towns hot springs spa and making Bad Urach a member of the German Spa town "community."
